What is wood waxing?
Paraffining consists in applying a layer of wax or paraffin to the ends of boards or logs in order to protect the wood from excessive moisture exchanges. This protection limits cracks (cracks) that may appear during drying, drying or storage phases, especially on sensitive species such as oak, beech or ash.
Why refine wood?
- Reducing chapped areas : paraffin creates a barrier against the evaporation of water too quickly, thus avoiding cracks at the end.
- Preserving quality : by maintaining a more stable humidity level, we maintain the mechanical and aesthetic properties of wood.
- Fewer losses : wood that is less cracked means better performance during processing (parquet, furniture, etc.).
- Adapted to different species : paraffining is particularly suitable for hardwoods such as oak, beech and ash.
